The Orange House Bolt FundThe Orange House was established in Spring 2003 to provide a focal
point for the many visiting climbers who flock to the Costa Blanca each
winter. In an effort to promote the sustainability of the climbing and
to maintain existing areas a bolt fund was started in the winter of
2003. Providing funds for the equipping of new routes and the re-equipping
of older routes which have become dangerous, or where inappropriate
equipping has been placed. Most sport routes on the Costa Blanca have
good modern equipment, but there are a few nightmares out there! So what does it Cost?Well not that much, a single galvanized 10mm bolt costs 1.30 Euros and a double bolt lower off chain unit 4.80 Euros. Glue in bolts are 1.55 per bolt plus resin. The locals or ex-pats have bolted most of the areas here from their own pocket purely for the good of climbing! An average single pitch with ten bolts costs about 18 Euros.So far the TOH bolt fund has purchased 700 expansion bolts 200 glue in bolts and 80 lower offs. New and existing areas supported by TOH Bolt FundPuig Campana - An easy crag 20 minutes walk from the road 22 routes so far! Toix Sea Cliff - Fourteen new pitchs Wild Side Sella - With the reopenning of the Wild Side at Sella, the local Spanish teams are bolting as fast as they can. The area now has over 20 grade 8s and 18 grade 7s there is even a 6b to warm up on. Many projects are still waiting for the first ascents! TOH bolt fund has donated bolts and lower offs and will continue to support what must be one of the best hard crags in Europe! El Realet - replacement of single piton ab stations with two bolt chains, bolting of new pitches. Mascorate Gorge lower section - Very old 8mm bolts and some lower off stations damaged or missing brilliant climbing but stupidly dangerous now. With permission from the first ascentists, work has been completed on the Mujer Wall has nice new shiney bolts in it´s three mega classic lines and the easier lines opposite have also been rebolted. Cabazon - Donations of bolts to the local Spanish bolting teams. Alcalali - Two new routes. On going work and planned work.Echo Valley - replacement of inappropriate ab stations with twin bolts. Toix Main Cliff -Replacement of old gear, particularly single bolt lower offs at TV. Olta - some lower offs here are single bolt. Toix TV - some lower off here are single bolt. Thankyou
