Silvia is a P.E. and languages teacher with over 20 years of climbing experience and 10 years of rock climbing tuition. She has the Single Pitch Award (SPA), and Mountain Leader (ML). In 1990 Silvia became the South American Indoor Climbing Champion in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was the British Indoor Climbing Champion in 1994 and member of the British team from 1993 to 1996. In 1997 she won the Australian International Comp event, Escalade, held in the Blue Mountains. Alpine climbing experience includes ascent of Fitz Roy in Patagonia and the North Face of the Eiger in Switzerland. Sport Climbing highlights include: First ascent of ‘Lolita’ 8a+ and ‘Bajame una Estrella’ 8a in the Pyrenees, Spain. First female ascent of ‘Lourdes’ 8a El Chorro, Spain and Roof Warrior 8a in the Peak District. In Thailand and Australia she has climbed Monkey Puzzle 28 and Phet Maak 8a. More recently,she has climbed ‘Statements of Youth’ 8a in Pen Trwyn, North Wales and ‘La Crema’ 8a, Siurana, Spain. Silvia has also climbed several 7c’s on sight and is currently sponsored by DMM and Mammut. Latest News - 8a+ climbed at Sella Wildside in Nov 2006Congratulations are due to Silvi for successfully red pointing "Romocop 8a+" at the Wild Side during a damp Novembers day. Silvi has been working for the Orange House for 18 months and runs the women week and is available for private guiding in the UK and Spain. She is also sponsored by DMM.
